Today I am in the historic town of Aachen to see my first match in the Regionalliga West of this season. I don’t know much about Aachen, apart from that the French call it Aix, which I only know because of the poem by Browning which we read at school when I was a little kid (‘How They Brought The Good News From Ghent to Aix’). See the full poem here:

Oh, and being close to the border (Aachen is the westernmost city in Germany) it was the first German city to be captured by the Allies in WWII.
Anyway, we are here for happier things, namely the Regionalliga West clash with FC Wegberg-Beeck, which sees 9th in the division play 12th, with 2 points separating them.
NB The town of Wegberg also lies on the border, to the north of Aachen. Gonna try and get to Aachen early today and get some pressies for the fam. Or, on the other hand…‘I raised my pint Bierstein, and Joris said, “We Can do that tomorrow.” ‘(Robert Browning)
