I have a sentimental fondness for this local Mannheim microbrewery beer, mainly because I associate it with the town of Worms, home to one of my favourite German football teams, Wormatia 08.
Eichbaum = oak tree – but I presume it’s not actually aged in oak casks? Being an entry-level quaff, as it is. Just a name most likely. Kind of tastes very woody and grassy anyway, not in an unpleasant manner. Low hop bitterness for a pils, also low carbonation, both of which I like. But overall, a bit thin and tasteless so would probably file it under ’not great, but not objectively terrible’, a bit like Blue Rondo a la Turk, the Charlatans, or Morrissey’s solo career.
A non- commital 5.5/10 from me.
